Crumb Top Apple Pie

From Rhonda Christ

Bake at 400° for 45-50 minutes

2/3 cup sugar
2 T flour
3/4 tsp ground cinnamon

6-8 tart apples, pared, cored, and sliced (approx 6 cups)
1 uncooked pie shell (get my new favorite recipe here)
1/2 cup flour
1/4 cup sugar
1/4 cup butter

  1. Combine the first three ingredients and stir into the apples.

  2. Turn apples into pie shell.

  3. Combine remaining flour and sugar and cut into butter until crumbly.

  4. Sprinkle over apples.

  5. Bake at 400 degrees for 45-50 minutes or until done. Cover the edges with aluminum foil to keep it from burning.

I made this for years at Sea Ranch for Thanksgiving and it was always a favorite. I even taught Emma the recipe and it’s now a part of their tradition too.
